I’m popping in today to highlight some of my favorite plant-based recipes! If you saw my post over the weekend, you know that I get tons of questions about plant-based eating at this time of year. It makes sense – in the last few years, plant-based diets have gotten a lot of press. They’re said to be better for your health and better for the planet. What’s not to love? Well, many people don’t know where to start. Sure, they know that they should eat whole grains, veggies, fruits, and legumes. But while these components are nutritious, they don’t add […]

With the pandemic, I have barely been wearing makeup, but then when I got pregnant, I really pretty much stopped. I was just so sick for the last 3.5 months that I couldn’t even handle it. I figured whatever I shared beauty-wise would give it away!

So the last three+ months, basically since the moment I found out I was pregnant, my skin absolutely blew up. I have never had breakouts or pimples or acne in my life – not even in high school. The hormones must be doing a number on me right now. I’m not sure if I can call it acne, but it’s def clusters of pimples that have seemed nearly impossible to get rid of.  That, and combined with the fact that I can’t use my Dr Dennis Gross Peel Pads – it’s been rough!

I think it’s a combination of hormones breaking me out AND my skin being weirdly irritated and dry by winter weather. But it’s just been awful. Sharing below a few of the things that have helped to clear it up. A huge produce I said I’d never buy and one I rediscovered from when I was pregnant with my others.

December Beauty Favorites

Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick. This is one of the only things that has saved my skin in the last three months! I was desperate for weeks then I remember using this as a spot treatment when I was pregnant with Max. I ordered one and it IMMEDIATELY helped. Like, next morning. It def can dry out the skin a bit so you need a thick moisturizer over it – but I adore this. I am so thankful I remembered it from before!

Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream. Yes, I did this. I still can’t believe it, but oh man was I desperate. In the last few months my with skin a disaster, I tried so many things. I ended up buying this after thinking about it for the last year or so. Long story short – combined with the blemish stick above and my caudalie toner, it has been a miracle worker. My skin is notoriously dry and always has been. This has worked wonders. It’s calming and moisturizing on another level. I don’t really have any scarring for this to clear up, but it has improved my complexion so much. I don’t even mind that I’m not using my other favorite skincare products anymore. The thing about this is that they don’t want you using any other products with it. It’s one of the reasons I always avoided it because I didn’t want to give up some of my favorites. But I was desperate, so it didn’t matter. One downside – the pump is GARBAGE. I’m on my third bottle and the pump hasn’t been great on any of them. Thankfully you can open up the bottom, take out the packaging and cut it to get out every last bit. See also: I have only bought this on sale! Would not pay full price for it.

Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. My sister-in-law gave me this for my birthday in early November because she loves it so much. I have to say this is the best gift ever – and I gifted it to someone for Christmas! I haven’t changed my shampoo in ages. This is amazing – it smells incredible, cleans my hair without drying out, the conditioner is perfect (my hair is also dry) and works – I am so, so happy with it! I already almost finished the bottles she gave me and I bought the jumbo ones.

Clinique Acne Solutions BB Cream. When I started breaking out, I noticed it was incredibly worse the day after I wore makeup. That wasn’t too often, but still – I wanted a way to combat that! I have used this before and ended up repurchasing. It’s tricky because my skin is dry so I can’t use too much of this, but the formula is super thin and blendable and it also covers SO well. I haven’t used it a ton, mostly because it has lots of ingredients that I don’t use normally in my face makeup. But there have been some times I’ve had to wear makeup and I even be used it as just a spot concealer. It’s really good.

Here’s a peek at everything I loved in November and December 2020! xo

FOOD

Lake Champlain Hot Chocolate. I discovered this on Rachel’s blog, and the kids are very into hot chocolate this year. OMG – this is incredible! It’s rich and wonderful. Super good!

Daily Harvest Smoothies. I can finally talk about how much I’ve been consuming these again now that I’m pregnant. My favorite is the strawberry peach, but so many of them are good! I’ve had a subscription for years but had it paused for awhile last year. So glad I bought it back.

FASHION

Leith Long Cardigan. This is about the least fashion-y favorites I’ve ever had, but eh… 2020. I bought this cardigan at the nordstrom sale in the summer and LOVE it right now. It’s kind of like wearing a light robe during the day but cuter. I’m obsessed!

Black Uggs. These could also be the least fashionable item ever, but every few years I need to get a new pair of black uggs and they are a lifesaver in this cold. I LIVE in these in the winter here. Plus, they are black so they aren’t THAT bad, right? They are basically my giant winter slippers, haha. I wouldn’t wear them OUT out, but I love them for wearing around the house and quick errands, which basically consists of picking up curbside groceries these days.

Faux Fur Slides. While we’re on the topic of ugly shoes… the last few years I’ve bought the (even uglier) version of these from Target. They are just so comfortable and perfect for running errands as long as there is no snow. This year I bought the amazon version and they def could pass for the gucci dupe from afar. The faux fur is fluffier and they are a bit cuter even though I still kind of hate them. They’re just so easy to wear!

MEDIA

Leslie Odom Jr Christmas Album. I’ve been listening to this since it released in early November and it’s SO good. I just love him so much. Def still on repeat here!

This Time Next Year. I read a lot of holiday books this month but this was probably my fave! Super cute.

Virgin River Season 2! Oh my gosh. I think I’ve rewatched the second season two more times. It’s SO good – just as good as the first, if not better!

HOME

Thymes Fraiser Fir Candle. My favorite winter/holiday scent. I adore this and it smells as authentic to a christmas tree as you can get.

iRoller Touchscreen Cleaner. I grabbed this while christmas shopping and am blown away at how great it cleans my phone, computer and iPad. Why have I not had one of these until now?

Renpho Eye Massager. I was sucked in by an IG ad or something for this – and ordered them. They are amazing. If you get tension or sinus headaches, these massage the area around your eyes and it’s awesome. Soothing and relaxing.

Kasa Smart Plugs. I use these most during the holiday season – I like to use them for all of our decor and lights, so then I can group them together for Alexa and turn on all the lights at once. They’re perfect! Def grab these for next year.

KIDS

Smockingbird PJs. I fell in love with smockingbird PJs for the kids this year! They are so soft and buttery. I don’t love their regular clothes, but their PJs are so cute and great quality – kind of seems like they are trying to be Beaufort Bonnet but with a lower price point.

Sight Words Wipe and Clean Book. Max LOVES these wipe clean books and they really help with his reading and writing too. He’s had some others for a few years but I got him this one on sight words and got emilia and preschool one. They are huge hits!

Christmas Village Wimmelbook. I’ve talked about these books for years – both of my kids, even Max, LOVE them. I was so excited to see a christmas version this year. These keep them entertaining for so long and they love looking at them together. These books are also great for long car rides.

WHAT A WEIRD YEAR!

october beauty favorites

I know that some of you noticed I haven’t done beauty faves in a month. I mean, it’s crazy considering I didn’t miss a month for almost a decade and it’s one of my favorite posts to do!

As I’m sure most of you can relate, I have barely been wearing any makeup. It’s been amazing for my skin. I’ve def been keeping up on skincare (will update you on that fully next month!), but not makeup as frequently. Obviously!

Still, the sephora sale is here! VIB rouge starts today, VIB starts 11/3 and Insiders start 11/5! The code is HOLIDAYFUN.

october beauty favorites

EVERYTHING below is something I use and love (or have used and loved) – these are all my personal recommendations. They probably come as no surprise considering I talk about beauty stuff nearly every month, but here we are! I did include a wishlist of what I want at the end. Spoiler alert: it’s not huge.

I love to use the VIB sale to stock up on my favorite skincare. I also love it to buy perfume, because you can rarely find that on sale (if ever!) – especially my favorite Tom Ford.

Obviously this is a frivolous post in this crazy time, but if you need a moment to take your mind off everything, it’s here!

2020 SEPHORA VIB SALE LIST

SKINCARE

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser. My favorite cleanser I have found in years. Been using it for at least a year and love it. Plus, it smells like strawberries.

Dr. Dennis Gross Daily Peel Pads. I haven’t stopped raving about these since I bought them and they have changed the texture of my skin. Can’t imagine ever going without these now. I use them every other day.

Caudalie Moisturizing Toner. I use this every single day, morning and night, with an exfoliating cotton round. It’s the best!

SkinFix Barrier+ Eye Cream. This has been my go-to eye cream for well over a year. It works wonders under makeup!

Drunk Elephant The Littles. This is the perfect travel set – also great if you want to try out all Drunk Elephant without the investment. In years I’ve traveled a bunch, I’ve bought this twice. I also LOVE the bag it comes with.

Drunk Elephant LaLa Retro Whipped Cream. This is my favorite nighttime moisturizer, but it also works during the day too. I use it because I have dry skin.

Drunk Elephant Protini PolyPeptides Cream. I use this one during the day under makeup. It dries down so nicely and is slightly more of a gel texture.

Sunday Riley Good Genes. I’m still OBSESSED with this product. It works wonders on my skin. It’s my OG holy grail – have used it for years. I alternate it with the peel pads above.

Sunday Riley Luna Oil. I love this as well, and it does work great in conjunction with Good Genes.

Farmacy Honeymoon Glow. This is an incredible resurfacing serum. I occasionally use this instead of Good Genes. It’s very light and really does make you glow.

Kate Somerville Exfolikate. This is the only physical exfoliator I use on my face. I also use this on my body and it’s great. It has a chemical exfoliate in it as well.

Supergoop Glow Screen. Found it this summer and fell.in.love. It also makes wearing sunscreen everyday bearable.

october beauty favorites

BODY

Sol De Janiero Bum Bum Cream. As a freak for all things scent, I love using this from April to October – it’s the best summer scent ever. I always buy the huge one at this sale for spring to come.

Sol de Janiero Nude Body Cream. This is a fragrance free RICH body cream. Fantastic for winter.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I love this cream for all over the body – everyone in our family uses this. It’s also fragrance free. It’s mild and great for eczema.

Derma Doctor KP Duty Scrub. I only use three body scrubs: the exfoliate above, my homemade ones in The Pretty Dish and this one. If you have those bumps on the back of your arms or if you have eczema, this is great. I use once or twice a week.

Derma Doctor KP Duty Cream. Same as the above, in cream form! I don’t use this every day or even every week, but I use it as needed. Eddie really loves this too.

Tax Luxe The Butter. This is my favorite self tanner. I don’t use it in the winter (funny, right?) but I use it all summer long.

october beauty favorites

MAKEUP

Beauty Blender. If I wear any sort of foundation, this is the only thing I apply it with. I also apply concealer with it.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. I LOVE this combined with BB cream. Such a pretty glow. I put it in any sort of foundation or tinted moisturizer.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue. This is my daily go-to for any sort of color or foundation on my face. It’s super light and I’ve used it for years. I use the shade vanilla.

Illi Super Serum Skin Foundation. If I DO decide to wear foundation (zoom meeting, video conference, etc), this has been my go-to all year. It has really great coverage but feels like nothing on the skin.

Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip balm. Definitely my holy grail lip balm. It’s pricey and not one I keep in my purse (because they always go missing!), but it’s amazing for dry lips.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. Another great option in a pot for dry lips. You can still feel this on your lips in the morning. Max loves this too.

Kevyn Aucoin The Contour Book. I have volume one of this and it’s great for traveling if you want an all-in-one. If the colors work for you, it has everything you need.

Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Bronzing Veil. I use both shades of this bronzer (tropical days and tropical nights) every time I wear makeup. The days shade is great for bronzing and I find that the nights shade is better for very light contour. It’s much cooler in tone.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light. This one is my go-to forever subtle highlight. You just look perfectly glowy with this. I love it so much! Have gone through three of these.

Benefit Gimme Brow. The ONLY thing I use on my brows. It’s so natural. Nothing compares to the tiny brush.

Nars Pro Prime Smudgeproof Base. This is my favorite for eyeshadow base. Have used it forever.

RMS Magic Luminizer. I’ve rambled about this forever. It’s an incredible gel-like luminizer and you can wear it on days you don’t wear makeup. It’s super pretty!

Milk Makeup Eye Pigment. I use this almost every single day. And I love it on its own but it’s also a great base. I have hotel lobby and after party – both gorgeous shades. Have also repurchased both!

Marc Jacobs Eyeconic Eye Palettes. These are my current favorite palettes that check every box – great pigment, so blendable, pretty shades and perfect for travel. I have glambition and provocouture. They are SO pretty.

Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick. This in amethyst is one of my favorite shades ever. I use it as both eyeshadow and liner.

Fresh Bloom Lip Balm. This is the MOST flattering shade ever. I use it all year round – it works with little makeup, or a full face!

Glow Watermelon Pop Lib Balm. I repurchased this twice this year. It’s a glossy balm that adds color based on your body chemistry. For me, it was the perfect pop of pink.

Sephora Cream Liquid Lipstick. I fell in love with these late last year when Lacy was getting married. We both got a shade for her wedding. It lasts super well and isn’t that uncomfortable for a liquid lipstick!

HAIR

T3 Whirl Trio. I bought this at a VIB sale a few years ago and still use it weekly. It is an amazing high-quality set that took me a long time to buy (so pricey!) but I use it SO much. And I love that it comes with three sizes of the wand.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day. I love this for styling when I have to blow dry my hair.

Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray. This is my all-time favorite hairspray. I also always have a travel size.

Drunk Elephant Tangle Spray. I use this on Emilia’s hair every night. Smells incredible and takes the tangles right out.

FRAGRANCE

Fragrance is super personal, so I don’t know exactly how to describe these without saying “I love them!” I gravitate towards warm, woodsy scents – think amber, musk, tonka bean, vanilla, etc. Below are my favorites!

Tom Form Noir Pour Femme. This is my winter fragrance.

Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. This is my summer fragrance!

Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom. An all-time favorite for me.

HOME

These are my absolute favorite candles to burn during the holiday season! And they never go on sale, unless you’re lucky enough to fine leftovers come January. The reed diffusers also last a few months in my bathrooms. I always get these as gifts during this sale and sometimes buy an extra so I have one come September of the next year.

Maison Louis MarieNo.04 Bois de Balincourt Candle. I first discovered this scent on our Michigan vacation in 2018 and bought the perfume oil. I’ve been obsessed every since and adore that they make it in a candle.

Next Pumpkin Chai Reed Diffusers

Nest Birchwood Pine Candle.

Nest Holiday Candle

Voluspa Spiced Pumpkin Latte Candle.

ON MY WISHLIST

T3 Smart Curling Iron. I am dying for this. I’ve loved my trio wand so much over the last few years!

Dr Dennis Gross Facial Steamer. I’m going strong on the skincare these days. I’ve seen steamers on amazon, but this one seems to have the best consistent reviews?

Nest Pura Diffuser Set. I bought one of these last year and loved it. It’s so great for making your home smell incredible.

[as usual, none of this is sponsored and all of these products were purchased by me. i am not affiliated with any of the companies above, nor do i accept free products. just love to talk about what i like, makeup junkie to makeup junkie. there are some amazon and general reward style affiliate links above. thank you for being here!]

FOOD

My red apple cider sangria. I don’t think there is a better cocktail out there for this season. It’s so warm and spiced and delicious.

Double Gloucester Cheese. If you’ve never had this cheese… omg. RUN and get it. We used this in my crackling caramel cheese board and while I’ve had it before, it was just so incredible this time around. It has chives in it and the flavor is unreal. You can most likely find it at fancier cheese counter, a whole foods or possibly even your local grocery store.

Pumpkin dream cake. It’s the BEST EVER. People go wild over this cake and it’s

FASHION

Sorel Lola II Stud Bootie. Okay it’s no secret how much I adore my Sorel Wedge Chelsea Boot. I have them in two colors and have worn them for years. They have amazing tread if you live in a place with cold winters and are just amazing! My obsession with Sorel is never ending, so I grabbed these booties and ADORE them. Again – the tread is wonderful and there is no slipping in these. But they are comfy and cute too!

Sorel Go Errand Run Slipper. Now these don’t replace the vionic slippers I told you about last month (those are for indoors), but these are errand running shoes and they could not be more warm and comfortable. Remember my obsession with the ugly faux fur slides from Target the last three years? Like they were hideous but I loved them anyway? These replace those. They have SO much more support, major tread on the bottom and are super comfortable. They are also cuter on then I expected. And the quality is a million times better.

Luxe Layer Long Sleeve Tee. These are the PERFECT layering tees for fall and winter because they are fitted and snug but ridiculously soft. The black is slightly see through (not terribly, just a bit!) so it is best for layering, but it’s also amazing for lounging around the house. I mean, what else can we do right now?

MEDIA

Mariah Carey’s Memoir. This might be my favorite book of 2020. I cannot stop thinking about it. I will write more about in a few day in my October book post, but it was just SO good. I highly suggest listening to the audio version because she narrates it – she sings often and the emotion in her voice is just so moving.

On that same note, I have been listening to all of Mariah’s old albums on spotify. Like the ones from when I was ten years old that I loved! Her self-titled, then also Butterfly, Daydream, Music Box, etc. And E = MC2 is probably one of my favorite albums of all time, if only because we had it on repeat the year we got engaged.

HOME

Nest Pumpkin Chai Candle. One of my OG favorites! I think of this more like a late October/November candle, so I’ve been burning it lately and it’s just so wondering. Fills up the entire house.

Bodum Double Wall Glasses. I’ve talked about these for years but they are my faaaavorite cup for hot coffee. Now that it’s hot coffee season (thought I will always prefer iced forever!), this is all that I use. They are perfect.

Ring light webcam. If you are doing a ton of virtual meetings right now on zoom, you NEED this ring light webcam. It’s almost like using an instagram filter – the light is just so good. And it makes you look AWAKE! And like you haven’t been stuck at home for 9 months.

KIDS

Superhero slap bracelets. Last month Max got a slap bracelet as a prize in school and I just about died. Hello 90s! He loved it so much, and Emilia loved it too. I surprised them with superhero slap bracelets and they lost their minds. This came with 9, so I set the others aside for stocking stuffers and other special occasions (like after they got their flu shot, haha).

Matching holiday PJs! Like the psycho that I am, I order matching christmas PJs for my kids extremely early (and uh, more than one pair – I also do this for every holiday, actually) – because all the ones I love sell out fast. So I figured I’d mention some of the ones I love here! I got these vintage santa ones from smockingbird, these gingerbread superheros from gap (max is obsessed) and the baking PJs from hanna andersson.

Cat & Jack star booties. Emilia looovvvees shoes and especially loves boots. These holographic star booties are so adorable. She wore them for our family pictures and they are too cute.

One of my many missions in life is to create fresh beet recipes that will win over even the biggest beet skeptics. Luckily, Jack has given me ample practice over the years. When we first met, he wouldn’t come near a beet, let alone taste one. But with time (and only a little trickery), I’ve gotten him to try and enjoy a host of beet recipes. Just last week, he devoured an entire beet salad at dinner, proclaiming how much he loved it with every bite. So if you’re still on the fence about beets, I get it. Their earthy […]

FOOD

My pumpkin pie steel cut oats. This has been breakfast on repeat. I make a batch at the start of the week and reheat a portion each day. Absolutely love them!

Fannie May S’mores snack mix. Oh my. This is completely addictive – once you start, it’s all over. Crunchy grahams and marshmallows covered in milk chocolate. Everyone freaks over this.

Leinenkugel Harvest Patch Shandy. I’m not a huge beer lover, but I can’t pass up a good pumpkin beer with a cinnamon sugar rim! This has easily taken the #1 spot for me. My definitely favorite!

FASHION

Athleta Made to Move Mask. I love the regular Athleta masks but got these last month and they are wonderful!! I don’t use them to work out since I’m just in my house, but I actually prefer these ones over others when I have to go out. I also love that these come with the elastic band to go around the back of your head if needed!

Via Spiga Packable Hooded Raincoat. This was a Nordstrom anniversary sale purchase and I am in love. It is SO lightweight (would be incredible for travel, whenever that can happen again) and is super cute. The best part is that it has a big hood! And it’s not just for rain – I’ve worn in while taking Max to school because the mornings are getting chilly. It’s great for cool weather.

Moonlight Lace Pajamas. It’s no secret that I am OBSESSED with the nordstrom line of pajamas. They have been a huge staple since I had Max. They are so soft and stretchy. This is a new version and I love it because of the short sleeves but also – no buttons. So comfy. I could LIVE in these!

Vionic Relax Slipper. Okay this is apparently the year of the slipper for me, but who is surprised. Last month I hurt my foot and needed to have support at all times in the kitchen. I wear shoes when working but a friend recommended these to me for cooking dinner, etc and I may never go back. They are pricey, but I have never had such a supportive slipper. They are incredibly comfortable. They aren’t that cute, but they are worth it. P.S. I have the black ones and they constantly sell out but come back in stock.

MEDIA

One To Watch. This was our September book club pick and it was SO GOOD. I highly recommend this book! Light and fun but also had a lot of depth. I was hooked in the first few pages.

Friday Night Lights. I can’t believe it took me until now to watch this entire series and I adored it. Adored!

Keith Urban The Speed of Now. This might sound weird but I really don’t listen to country music unless it’s in the summer. But!! 2020 has changed that and I love Keith Urban’s new album!! The song with P!nk called One Too Many is so good.

Podcasts! Here are a few of my favorite episodes from this month: Day 7 on Armchair Expert (this is so emotional and so good. I love Dax.), Harry and Meghan Finding Freedom on Be There in 5 (love this discussion with Merritt Beck!), Venita Aspen on Bad On Paper (if you don’t follow Venita, you must!), and On My Mind on Unlocking Us.

HOME

Swell Calcatta Gold Insulated Tumbler. I didn’t think I’d be a travel mug coffee kind of person, but sometimes I haven’t finished it by the time I leave to take Max. This is the perfect size – I can do hot or iced coffee in here and it stays great. I can also fit a straw through the top lid.

Mackenzie Childs Spooky Pumpkins. Pretty sure I have mentioned these every year, but they are by far my favorite piece of fall decor. First, I love that they aren’t orange, second, I love that they are perfect for Halloween but then can be turned around for Thanksgiving

Homesick Pumpkin Patch Candle. I did a post earlier this month on my favorite candles and have since gone through this one. I LOVED it. It is a such a nice pumpkin scent with just a hint of spice and not much sweet. I can’t find this exact one in stock online, but they have a very similar one called pumpkin picking!

Gold Cookie Sheet 3 Pack. I use these sheet pans every single day (sometimes multiple times a day) and use all sizes. They are great quality for the price!

KIDS

Yum Box. We’ve entered the world of lunch boxes this year and I bought a few to try out. This is our favorite – it’s so easy for Max to open, I love the segments, it’s light weight and it can go in the dishwasher. Max loves it too.

Straw Constructor Building Toys. This toy has been an absolute HIT with the kids. It’s fantastic for both ages and they’ve had a lot of fun building together too. I love that so much can be done with it, but then it also packs up nicely.

1000 Things That Go. My kids love this book (along with the food one too!) and get lost in it. Max loves to go over every.single.thing in the book – it’s so cute! I feel like they have also learned so much from these too.

Magnatiles. We’ve had magnatiles since Max was two, and he enjoyed them for years. He still does! But now, Emilia has discovered them and she is obsessed. It’s so cute. She is constantly building “doggy houses” and builds everywhere! These are such a toy that lasts and lasts.

FOOD

Elin Hilderbrand’s Grilled Zucchini Dip. Elin posted this recipe on her instagram and I knew I had to make it instantly. I have made this 5 (!!!) times since. I don’t think she currently has it saved to her highlights, but I wrote out the recipe here when I shared it in a weekly recap. It’s unique and so delicious.

Torres Truffle Chips. Serve these with the above. Another Elin recommendation. They are the best truffle chips I’ve ever had.

American Spoon Maple Granola. This is the best store-bought granola ever. I love it so much!

Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew!! I cannot get enough. This is probably my favorite drink of the year. I don’t love pumpkin spice things, but I do love PUMPKIN things – minus the spice. That is why this is so good. The foam is mostly pumpkin, minimal spice. Now I would like to figure out a way to order this decaf, because too much cold brew makes me a crazy person.

FASHION

Free People Straw Visor. I don’t know if we can call this fashion but it’s easily been my most worn item of August, if not the entire summer. I’ve had mine since last year and just adore it.

Tommy John Second Skin Lounge Pants. I got these at the anniversary sale for half price and am in love. They are the perfect pajama/relaxing pants.

Rails White Neon Shirt. Rails shirts are my love language and I pretty much live in them all year long. I’m absolutely obsessed with this one that has the neon detail.

MEDIA

Yellostone! The season was out of this world. The finale was a bit over the top, but I still can’t handle how much I love every character in this. I even love to hate Jamie. If you haven’t watched it, it would be a great one to binge right now.

Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover. This was my favorite book of August. Colleen’s writing is one of my absolute favorites – she pulls me in instantly.

HOME

Crate and Barrel Chip Dip Bowl. For previously mentioned zucchini dip! I have had multiple chip/dip bowls over the years, but they are either larger lazy susans or plates when the dip bowl is separate. This is all connected and perfect for serving! Also great for guac and chips.

Vineglace Wine Chiller. This was the best thing I took on vacation last month. It’s like a giant yeti insulator but for a wine bottle. We used it every single day!

Corksicle Hot Pink Tumbler. And this has been my summer cup. I’ve used it for coffee, seltzer, cocktails and wine. I love the feel of it and of course it keeps everything hot or cold.

KIDS

Cat & Jack Rainbow Boots. Emilia is an accessories and shoe lover. For awhile, she was wearing a pair of Max’s rain boots in the house, but then we finally took them outside. So I bought her these ones and she adores them. My favorite thing is that she pairs these with shorts all the time. It’s the cutest.

LCD Writing Tablets. The kids love the boogie board and I bought these for our long car ride for vacation. They were a huge hit.

Veer Cruiser Wagon. This is a big one and not an item I mention lightly, but the amount of questions I got on instagram about this was wild! Max has officially outgrown the uppa baby vista double seat (I’m devastated, yes!), but he still likes to be in a seat sometimes. He can still fit in the citi mini double (slightly comfortably), but he doesn’t want to be reclined for long – and then Emilia refuses if he gets out. Both of those strollers have gotten a TON of use in the last 3 years. We are a stroller-loving family. So, I read a ton of reviews and bought the Veer. It is absolutely incredible and the kids will sit in it for hours. We walked for a few hours each morning on vacation and they loved it. We use it at the park or in our neighborhood. You can easily push or pull it – I mostly push, like a stroller. It doesn’t take turns well, so I wouldn’t take it to target or anything in place of a stroller, but it’s great on walks, beach, etc. Absolutely love it!

I’m back with some beauty faves! Finally!

So for the first time in nearly ten years, I didn’t share a beauty favorites last month! I mean, let’s be real – I have barely been wearing makeup for months (in fact I’m at a point now where when I DO wear makeup, it feels like SO much on my skin!) and I’m still using all my favorite skincare products – the same ones. There have been a few new things I’ve tried and mentioned over the last few weeks on my summer fridays posts, but I figured I’d put together a dedicated post for August! These are always my favorite posts to do, but I often feel repetitive since I really love my skincare routine and use nearly all the same stuff.

Max is starting school soon and once we’re in more of a routine, I think my makeup game will go up a bit! But otherwise, I really haven’t bought much makeup at all… if any. Here are a few things I’ve been loving over the summer!

August Beauty Favorites

Herbivore Coconut Hydrating Body Oil. This may be my favorite product of the entire summer. Since June, I’ve used half the bottle. It’s replaced body lotion for me occasionally after a shower. It does not leave your skin greasy or oily at all. It smells INCREDIBLE. It’s like a sweet coconut – not a tropical coconut. It’s a very lovely scent! And bonus, it has a pump, which is always so much more convenient than a dropper with oil.

54 Thrones Beauty Butter. I am obsessed with this. I wanted it months ago and it was sold out, then it popped up on Nordstrom’s website as available! I have the vanilla scent, but it’s not a warm, sweet vanilla. It’s like a fresh, slightly floral (in a good way, because florals usually make me sneeze) vanilla scent. The product itself is SO moisturizing and you only need the smallest drop. I’ve been using this on my hands and also some dry skin spots before bed. I really want to try the facial oil too!

Elta MD Full Body Aero Sunscreen. I bought this after Lacy started using it and it is wonderful. You do have to rub it in after spraying, but it is SO light and not thick at all as it goes on. It’s really nice for body sunscreen! Plus, it’s the same brand as what I use on my face.

GIMME thick hair ties. These came up on an amazon search when I was looking for hair ties for Emilia. I knew they would be too big for her but may work for my hair. I LOVE THEM. They are so stretchy and soft but also hold my hair really well. And I love how thick they are.

Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. Still my favorite scent of summer by far – so fresh, but coconutty, but beachy, but warm. I adore it. I even like to mix it with the coconut scent I mentioned back in June. I find that it layers well with everything!

What has your beauty routine looked like this summer?! Anything you’re looking forward to for fall?
