This week!! It was a nice one to ring in December.

This is how most of our pics go!

Puzzle time. These little snax size puzzles are amazing! The kids love them.

They build them over and over again.

Library time for this little love.

I want Emilia’s entire wardrobe this week.

My food tree makes us so happy.

We had our cookie decorating party with friends!

It’s cheeseboard season. P.S. the lemon baked ricotta from trader joe’s is back. It’s insane!

I mean, does this come in my size? She doesn’t even know she is “posing!!”

We did this last year for the first time and it was really fun.

Jordy joined in this year and he did so well.

Cutie kids cookies.

Max loves decorating.

So proud.

We also started our advent spiral!

I put these little holographic trees in Emilia’s room. Found them at the dollar spot in Target a few weeks ago!

Max had his first basketball game this weekend.

It was so exciting!

Emilia went to breakfast with santa with her little bestie.

Can you even!!

She loves a face painting.

Jordan in Jordan.

Max and his baseball card obsession.

Last night we had our first family movie night in our new movie room.

The weather was wacky today but it ended with a double rainbow. Gorgeous.

My little loves.

2. Half and half chocolate chip cookies. Oh my gosh.

3. Going to do a big holiday Trader Joe’s run this week and can’t even wait. What’s your must have?

4. We’ve been in the constant cycle of sickness since school started. With a family of five, it’s like it cycles through everyone just in time to start the cycle again. I don’t remember this happening when I was a kid.

5. These quirky food pairings! Um, of course I can do #6.

6. TV things!! Oh how I loved the end of Lessons in Chemistry. Also, Black Cake is so, so good!

7. I need some ideas on how to “warm” up my new kitchen and house. I still haven’t bought anything new, so I’m open to all suggestions! I want it to feel cozy and lived in.

8. Christmas movie style icons. I love it.

I can’t believe we are at the end of the Thanksgiving weekend!

So much to be grateful for this week!

This little nugget. On the nugget.

I made a few batches of chex mix to kick the week off. I knew it would last until Thanksgiving weekend.

And prepped some cookie dough for one of the desserts.

I don’t like hot coffee unless it looks like this.

Thanksgiving break lunch date!

Bubble christening!

These babies.

Max and I baked these late Wednesday night.

My SIL made my chocolate pecan pie bars!

I really struggled with the table this year! We don’t have a dining room in our new house. I was very sad about no dining room all weekend, even though Thanksgiving is literally the only day I ever use it. Even other holidays and birthdays are more casual.

Mashed potatoes post ricing.

Goofballs.

I roasted a turkey and smoked a turkey! Our favorite tradition.

Kids table for the win.

Carbsgiving!

How sweet is my little lovechunk niece! It was so wonderful that my brother got to be here after everything he went through last week.

Max had a Thanksgiving hockey tournament. We had so much fun!!

Emilia got hot chocolate the first night before. I tasted it – wow, starbucks hot chocolate is garbage.

We love hockey!!

She was very thrilled that the kona ice truck was at the tournament all weekend.

Then she promptly dropped the entire thing on the ground.

Max played soooo well all weekend.

MVP puck!

Emilia also had her first voice recital!

People pay for this hair color, right?! It’s so pretty.

She did SO well. It was all christmas songs and so sweet.

Sparkle girl!

And Max made it right in time to see her performance after his last game. She was so happy!

Pretty sure Jordy is working on ear infection #2 of the season. Ugh.

But he’s still a happy little babe.

They love to make funny face pics.

And the sweetest sister about to put him to sleep.

And now… christmas overload!

Oh this week.

Thankful for some magical sunsets this week.

Our week started out like most others and Monday morning was beautiful – the whole day we had incredible weather. But late that night, my brother suffered a major medical event during his hockey game and it’s very crazy how fast things can change. My brother is okay now, home, resting and recovering, thank God. We had just spent the entire weekend together. Emilia’s birthday, my dad’s birthday, his daughter’s baptism. It’s probably the scariest phone call I’ve ever received. I’ve relived it over and over again. All I could think about was that he has a baby! He is Max’s favorite person on earth. How is this happening!

I could write so much more. But, this has been the most incredible reminder as we go into Thanksgiving week of what we truly can be thankful for.

That morning, I was volunteering at Emilia’s kindergarten thanksgiving feast. I made the stuffing!!

Once we knew my brother was stable and okay, we resumed some of our normal week. Max had his last flag football game.

Jordy and I ran some errands, where he refused to sit down in the cart and also kept throwing off his socks and shoes. #thirdchild

This was right off our driveway. Incredible.

Wonder!

The kids also walked in light up night for their school.

We almost didn’t go, but it was 65 degrees! Last year when we went, it was 10 below zero with the windchill.

More beauty first thing in the morning.

And this little lovechunk out for a morning walk.

Speaking of lovechunks, I snuggled the heck out of my baby niece more than ever before, once my brother was home.

We have a local coffee shop that makes the best lattes.

Jordan in jordan.

This weekend we finally put up the kitchen tree. I did a post on it one year! You can find many of the ornaments here.

We also put up our regular living room tree. I don’t love this tree in this space in our new house. But since we just moved in, I haven’t wanted to buy anything until we’ve lived in the space. We didn’t get any new furniture and I didn’t buy anything new for Christmas. I’m making lots of notes on what to change and get for next year as the weeks go on.

Cuties.

Max had a few games this weekend. It’s so fun to watch him play.

And then he asked me to take this photo. I love it!

Snuggles all around this week.

4. What podcasts have you listened to lately?? I’ve been listening to the wedding scammer and it’s pretty good.

5. Always want to entertain like Martha.

6. TV things!! I started watching Black Cake on hulu (it was one of my fave books last year) and oh my gosh, I think it’s SO good. I also really liked the ending of The Morning Show. I thought Jon Hamm was so good in it. Also still loving Lessons in Chemistry! Another favorite book of mine.

7. How to get rid of bad food smells in the kitchen. I always simmer some lemon and cinnamon sticks for a bit!

8. I realized last week that I still write words with hearts, forever solidifying my “I’m always 17” status.

Oh my gosh! Almost halfway through the month and here’s what I read last month! Moving just kicked my butt and I couldn’t get it posted. But on the bright side, I listened to a lot of books while unpacking.

Now I’m ready for all the holiday reads. What are you reading right now?!

You can find my reading lists here and previous what I read posts here.

And you can follow me on goodreads here.

I do have a book of the month membership – I love it so much. I get so many of my new releases and debut author books there. You can sign up for one here.

All of these books are linked through bookshop (if available!) and I highly suggest shopping through there because it will support your local indie bookstore. You can choose the local bookstore to support! I support Penguin Books when I buy which is my fave here in Pittsburgh.

WHAT I READ IN OCTOBER 2023

Mrs Nash’s Ashes – 5 stars

This was easily my favorite book of the month! So many of you said I’d love it and I did. The story follows a woman who travels with the ashes of her elderly friend, hoping to reunite her with her long lost love. It was SO good. She ends up traveling with an old highschool friend and there is chemistry and it’s just.so.good. Such a heart warming story!

Happiness Falls – 4 stars

This was in my book of the month box and I really liked it. It’s part mystery/part family drama and is so interesting, heart breaking, suspenseful and emotional. The story follows a Korean family in American and the father goes missing. It started a little slow for me but I ended up loving it.

Housemoms: a Novel – 3 stars

I haven’t read a Jen Lancaster book in so, so long!! This book was so fun. It follows two different women who end up in a predicament and need to find a job, which leads them to become sorority house moms. It also follows the daughter of one of them and the whole thing is just hilarious and fun. I did think there were a few unanswered questions, but otherwise I liked it.

The Woman In Me

I listened to this in practically one sitting – it’s heartbreaking and just utterly devastating. It made me feel the same way Matthew Perry’s memoir did – almost sick to my stomach listening at what was happening but I couldn’t stop. It’s just unbelievable how she was treated at the start of her career and everything she went through.

If You Would Have Told Me

I listened to this right after the Britney book. I grew up on Full House and absolutely loved John Stamos. I really enjoyed listening to this! I know some of the stories he mentions have been sort of debunked in the media lately, but I do like hearing about his career, his start, his family.

Calm Christmas and a Happy New Year

I listened to this one too! Oh I loved it. It’s such a great way to enter into the holiday season. It’s all about slowing down at Christmas (and in winter) and how to enjoy what the season is about – and what exactly it means to you. There is also a podcast!

(This is not sponsored but there are a few bookshop and/or affiliate links above! Thank you for reading!)

This is our fullest week of the year!

Here’s everything we did.

My adorable babies at school drop off. I love this time!

You don’t even want to know what I’ve been finishing up shooting in my kitchen!

Tuesday was my birthday! Lacy brought donuts from Prantls. aka, the best.

How to keep babies entertained during skate lessons.

This time of year!!!

This is where things get busy! Max had a hockey tournament this weekend. He scored the first goal of the first game!

We celebrated Emilia’s birthday too!

And my dad, who turned 70!

But that’s not all, we actually have five birthdays in this week.

Dreamy mermaid cake.

Bella christie cake is so good.

Always need some chocolate and vanilla.

Cutest little cousins.

The fog was crazy the next morning.

Hockey break on the lake.

I adore this boy.

So cute.

Then we went and celebrated Cooper’s third and Sebastian’s first birthdays!!

We had so much celebrating this weekend, it was so fun.

Had to have a little chill time in the afternoon.

We went out to dinner and to the pens game for my dad’s birthday.

Then we woke up to celebrate little Lucy’s baptism!

She is the most adorable chunk of love. I could eat her up.

I mean, the cheeks!!!

And that’s that… now we’ve got another full week!

3. On that same note, I am loving this calm christmas podcast. There is also a book that I listened to. But I really like the podcast since it comes to small doses.

4. All I want is for starbucks to bring back the eggnog latte.

5. Also!!! I am going to the Mariah Carey christmas concert in December. Um, does it get much better?

6. How to give gifts when everyone already buys everything they want.

7. One more holiday note: these awesome freezer sugar cookie cut outs are back at Target. I used these for cookie decorating parties last year and they are amazing.

8. Today is my birthday but honestly I will forever feel 17. Or 23. Or 27!

Oh Monday I went into school for the kids’ Halloween parties. They were off on Tuesday for conferences!

Very excited for snow white.

Ran in and got Max a haircut. Why does he look 15!

Cutest boy.

We carved pumpkins.

Emilia designed hers and Max did the Mets… something.

I want to take a bite out of this cookie!

Trick or treating fun.

Cute enough to eat.

Woke up Wednesday to SNOW, which couldn’t have been more perfect. You know on Nov 1st, I am in full christmas mode.

My mom and I had a show to go to this week!

We saw The Wiz.

I had never seen the movie but the dancing, costumes, voices were so incredible! We loved it.

Jordan loves to stand on a kitchen stool and eat snacks.

Yay for apple season.

I worked the book fair at school all week. My dream!

Emilia’s birthday was yesterday, so she got to celebrate at school on Friday.

She picked this hot pink velvet dress to wear. I love her!

After school, we went bowling with friends for her birthday.

Cutest.

I started on a mermaid-ish balloon garland – it was not my favorite. And I love making them!

She woke up bright and early and threw on her leopard print before coming downstairs.

The sunrise was in full force for her.

Happiest, sweetest girl alive.

We had a very chill day at home – we’re having a party for her this upcoming Friday so it was nice to have a fun day at home.

Eddie blew up over 100 balloons and put them in her room for when she woke up.

They have been the highlight of the weekend.

Max had a flag football game!

We made a good old fashioned rainbow chip cake so we could sing.

She is our best sparkly girl. I couldn’t find my candles (thanks, moving) but this twisted gold taper candle was perfect and looked like a unicorn horn.

And now we’re into a new week! My birthday is this week. I’m totally putting the tree up!
