2. The wintering we all need right now.

3. On that same note, I’m starting the book on wintering today!

4. Lest you think my kids love everything I make, last night we had my lemon butter chicken from Everyday Dinners and Emilia demanded chick-fil-a sauce for dipping.

5. But then she also said wouldn’t it be so beautiful if every tree in the world had ornaments on them?

6. The most iconic candy for decorating your gingerbread house.

We had the best week ever!

And Jordan’s very on the move and uninterested in standing for photos, haha.

But will plop down in anyone’s lap to read all the books, even upside down.

Really, the only nonthanksgiving dinner I made last week. House salad with grilled chicken!

Emilia wanted to do makeup with me early one morning.

How to prep Thanksgiving with a little babe!! Give them all the kitchen utensils.

Best prep: freeze chocolate chip cookie dough.

Wednesday night we had so much fun: Max got to play during the Pens game intermission!

She was pumped.

They both loved the VIP passes!

This baby was a DREAM! He sat on my and my dad’s lap the entire time – was so happy and content. Maybe because he had so much to look at?!

Equally a dream. Loved to scream and shout “let’s go pens!”

I can’t even express how cute and fun this was to watch!

Teeeeeth!

Then we woke up and it was Thanksgiving!!

The creamiest mashed potatoes.

I cheated and ordered this cake from Mediterra. We had SO much dessert. I also made pumpkin dream cake and chocolate pecan pie bars, plus my MIL brought pumpkin pie and cousins brought pies too. I love a huge dessert spread on Thanksgiving.

Kinda threw this table together last minute on Wednesday before we left.

A blending of the seasons.

The OG sweet potato casserole.

Jordan’s first Thanksgiving meal! He wasn’t eating solids yet last year. His fave? The green bean casserole!

That plate though!

Holidays = whipped cream in my coffee. Actually, all December. Also, Baileys.

And then, on thanksgiving night…

Max finally lost a front tooth!!! He’s officially a big kid.

My mom was so cold doing dishes with me that she wore her slippers and winter coat.

Thanksgiving babies!!!

P.S. how amazing is this pie cookie from Micah Made Cookies?!

My grandpa (he’s 94) with all the great grandkids! Jordan wasn’t into it. How cute!!

Max told me he “made me something.” It was a heart out of dominos!

And it’s officially matching christmas PJ season!

This is the theme of our life now. :)

Big kid buddies.

We are so excited for the season!

2. Craving these amaretto chocolate chip cookies.

3. Emilia got an american girl doll for her birthday and she sometimes sets it on the steps… every time I walk into the foyer area I have a heart attack because I think there is a real child on the steps.

4. How to find focus in a busy season of life.

5. TV things!! I loved Yellowstone this week. Also, have you watch Spirited yet?

6. Does anyone actually leave friends and family voicemails anymore, aside from medical/service/school calls?!

7. I love the idea of a command center in the house.

8. What do you do for Thanksgiving? Tell me your plans! This is my favorite week.

9. I made chex mix yesterday from another recipe and it was so bland. Just a PSA for my caramel chipotle chex mix that is the best.

Can’t believe we’re headed into Thanksgiving week!

How adorable are these two little buddies?!

Quick little park before we got snow.

Look at those flakes!

Mixing up the seasons.

Max got the hardest worker award at hockey!

Still loving all the crafts.

And she’s skating like a champ!

Third child activities = going to his siblings activities.

The babies. My heart.

Cereal bandit.

She is my favorite girl ever.

The fort of all forts.

My mom and I saw Hadestown this week! It was so good!

We had light up night in our town.

We even walked in the parade. It was freeeeezing.

Then we came home and had our first hot chocolate of the season.

Coloring cutie.

It was rainy, snowy and gloomy all week. I swear it was dark by 3pm.

So proud of her own christmas tree!

Mine and Emilia’s favorite ornaments, of course.

Table set for Emilia’s class Thanksgiving!

And a new baby in the family!! Lacy had baby Sebastian!! He is perfect.

Max wanted to write all the states in order of how big they are (by area).

Hockey game today!

The cutest spectator.

Wild little munchkins cheering their brother on are the cutest.

3. Really could not laughed harder at this piece about IG reels.

4. I’d love to lean into the darkness of winter but, I mean, how is it getting dark at 4pm. Whyyyy does it feel so new every November? Ha.

5. TV things!! Yellowstone!! Cue all my exclamation points. So glad it’s back. I thought the premier was so good, albeit heartbreaking. I also watched all of Love is Blind 3. What a wild ride.

6. Yesterday I finished Matthew Perry’s new memoir. WOW. All the feels. I listened to it because he narrates it. I couldn’t stop listening.

7. Why what we want tells us who we are.

8. Current favorite podcast? Share! I need some new ones.

We had such a good week!!

I can’t even handle how much Emilia loves her big brother.

I was taking their holiday photos and trying to find a good spot. Funny faces to find the spot!

Prettiest bday flowers.

Standing in line to vote!! I went at 7:30 and had a pretty long line.

The sweetest pumpkin on her way to gymnastics.

And biking in her neon colors.

Snapped this on a walk, last week was gorgeous!

My little old man!

Love this shot of Max at practice.

And my rainbow girl ready for skating lessons.

This little one is getting so funny.

He loves to make us laugh!

We broke out the kitchen tree first!! If you’re new, you can read all about my kitchen tree and food ornaments here. I’ve been collecting food ornaments for over a decade now.

I always put fluffy blankets on the floor because I break ornaments every year… the blown glass and the tile floor – ugh. This is Max and Emilia’s favorite tree to do!

This one was into it too…

Sweetest sister cheering for Max at his hockey early this morning! She got this headband for her birthday and loves it.

This little bubs let me wear him in the baby carrier since it was freezing and also 7am.

A happy hockey play with his baby bro who just wants to RUN!

And the happiest, sneakiest little girl at breakfast this morning. Gosh I love them to pieces.

What.a.week!

We had a big busy week and loved it!

First up, one last Halloween painting.

Max won the “guess how many candy corn are in the jar” game at his Halloween party.

Then it was time for trick-or-treat!

A ninja, a unicorn fairy and a baby dino.

Why are they so big?!

Also remember when Emilia wore this costume?!

I made a chili bar per us. And we were all Halloween-hungover on Tuesday!

Last gymnastics class as a four year old.

Playing in the morning fog.

It’s been so dark and foggy this week!

Baby girl waiting in the school line.

Max working on his star-of-the-week poster.

Tell me that this is your third kid? When your mother gives him cinnamon toast crunch at her house.

Curly baby mullet!

Fresh art supplies. Emilia opened this gift early and loved it.

Pure joy at the park!

Her puppycorn gift from her little BFF.

After Emilia went to bed Thursday night, Eddie, Max and I prepped for her birthday morning! Max wrote her this note and let me just tell you that chicken wings written backwards is a term of endearment.

New bike for our baby!

She is the happiest most wonderful girl ever.

Caboodles for the win!

Jordy was very into the unicorn balloons. Eddie found them at party city!

Balloon garland heaven.

And her cake for her party! She said she wanted a “unicorn and rainbows cake.” OKAY THEN!

Sparkles for the unicorn queen.

I wish everyone knew her and knew what a fun, happy, hilarious girl she is!

Okay, last one!

Oh and her cookies! From micah made cookies.

The rest of the weekend was packed too!

Neon pink details because we went out to eat for my birthday, which is tomorrow.

We went to the new Del Friscos downtown and it was so good. I got this ridiculous cocktail with gold leaf.

Crispy fried lobster app!

This caviar french toast was INSANE. It had a champagne caramel. Absolutely amazing.

We also got steaks, tons of sides and dessert. It was all so good.

Makeup mornings with my new five year old!

How is she so big?!

Finished the weekend with this cake that Lacy got me. How gorgeous?!

what i read in october

I had SUCH a great reading month. I really enjoyed the books… one book I loved SO much – like almost as much as some of my 2022 faves. It was light and fun and made me want to stay up all night and read. Now I’m looking forward to starting some holiday books for the season!

What good things did you read this month?

You can find my reading lists here and previous What I Read posts here.

And you can follow me on goodreads here!

WHAT I READ IN OCTOBER 2022

Scandalized – 5 stars

I LOVED this book so much. It was the exact thing I wanted to read at the time. The story follows two friends who knew each other growing up, run into each other on a random night and sparks fly. It takes off from there and oh man I just loved.this.story. It is steamy, but it’s not cringey if that makes sense.

It Starts With Us – 4 stars

I loved It Ends with Us and I reread it a few months ago in preparation for this. I will say that this book is everything I wanted it to be – it starts right at the very end of It Ends With Us and moves forward fast. There isn’t a ton TO the book but I got the story of what I wanted. I did like it and was satisfied with the ending. I don’t think it needed to be written, but I totally appreciate it!

Drunk On Love – 3.5 stars

I just finished this one over the weekend and it was super cute. I love Jasmine’s books and look forward to them every year. The story follows Margot who has a one night stand only to show up at her business (a winery! how fun!) the next day and learn the same guy is their new hire. It’s cute and a light read and moves quickly.

Love On The Brain – 4 stars

Got this one in my October book of the month box and it did not disappoint! It has one of my favorite tropes – enemies to lovers – and the story follows two coworkers who do not get along but have to work on a project together. This is such a fun quick read – I didn’t love it as much as this author’s previous book The Love Hypothesis, but it did come close.

2. Today is officially starting my holiday/christmas season. I’m blasting all the music, we’re watching all the movies. I love doing this because I feel like we get the most enjoyment out of the season. I aim to be done with everything decor/wrapping wise by December 1 so I can just enjoy the season between work and the kids!

3. But of COURSE today kicks off my annual Thanksgiving series too. If you haven’t made the best stuffing ever yet, add it to your list this year.

4. It’s also officially the day where I beg Eddie to get rid of every piece of spooky decor by 5am. Goodbye Halloween!

5. What candy are your stealing out of the Halloween bowl? For me, it would always be snickers. Maybe caramello bars, but haven’t had one in a million years.

6. 10 easy ways to practice gratitude.

7. TV things… the end of Tell Me Lies – like what?! So many questions, I do not get it. I want to watch the whole thing over again.

8. How to simplify when you’re overwhelmed. Story of my life!

9. From last year, but I love these 61 days of festive activities!
