I’ve been obsessed with Taylor Swift since my daughter was 11 and fell in love with 1989. I threw her a themed birthday party that year and our love of her music and lore has only grown, especially with The Eras Tour and all her new albums.

I’ve updated this post (my daughter is now 19) but have kept some of the old ideas down below. These ideas are perfect for how to throw any Taylor Swift Party, including for a birthday! I’m including food and decoration ideas as well as some editable printable invitations. The Eras tour might be over at the end of 2024 but being Swifties will last forever – have the best day by hosting a themed event!

Any theme party or birthday needs themed food, obviously, so let’s get fearless in the kitchen!

Taylor Swift Drinks

Create some Happiness with some cocktails and mocktails!

  • Grab some bubbly to avoid Champagne Problems and, of course, white wine.
  • Live in the Lavender Haze, a refreshing drink with lavender syrup.
  • We know how much Taylor loves Red, so whip up a Dirty Shirley to get Down Bad, or make a Shirley Temple Mocktail.

DIY Taylor Swift Party Decorations

While you can find a ton of decorations on Amazon or Etsy, there are also a bunch you can DIY with just a few items. These are a homemade, for a Change.

  • Friendship Bracelet Garland (3D) – while a little time consuming this is very simple to make. You simply need foam circles, ball pit balls, letter stickers, fishing line, and a large needle.
  • Friendship Bracelet Garland (paper) – (see below for a purchase option, but this would be so easy to make!)
  • Paper Rings – wrap fun decorative paper around your napkins or cutlery.
  • Decorate your water bottles with easy wraps – just cut construction paper and tape it around the water bottle. Grab some Taylor Swift stickers to decorate!
  • Photo backdrops – these can get super expensive. To keep the cost down, grab fringe or metallic table cloths and hang them in an open space. Add balloons and your friendship bracelet garland.
  • Buy a cheap white paper table cloth (or white butcher paper) to cover the table with. You can either write your favorite songs and/or lyrics all over or place crayons or makers on the table and have everyone do it themselves.
  • Flowers add so much texture – mix and match bright colors and make your own centerpieces.

These are some items that would complete your table and decorations – thinks like plates and things that would be hard to make yourself. To save money: mix and match themed items with plain colors you find at discount stores.

Taylor Swift Party Activities

  • Friendship Bracelet Making, of course!
  • Make your own Sunglasses (I got mine on Etsy, but here are some on Amazon).
  • Decorate your own tennis shoes – Keds style sneakers were a huge part of the 1989 Era. Just be sure to paint the bottoms red – and use lots of glitter glue!
  • Speak Now! Have a a Karaoke contest or a Shake It Off dance party.
  • Play Pin the Dress on Taylor: Print out a picture of her and get some paper doll dresses for this classic party game.

  • Play some party games like Taylor Swift Bingo or Match the Lyrics
  • Watch The Eras Tour on Disney+
  • For adults, do a white wine tasting. Pretend to be a sommelier and pour glasses for your friends, or place the bottles in paper bags and do a blind taste test.
  • For adults or kids – do some Bejeweled DIY, either on cardigans or t-shirts, shoes, hats, or anything. Buy some rhinestones and all-purpose glue and get dazzling.
  • Photo Booth – Taylor loves her camera! Since polaroids were a huge part of 1989 and they’ve made a comeback, place one of these instant polaroid cameras near a fun backdrop. (For a cheaper option, they have photo printers you can hook up to your cell phone – I have one and love it!)

Taylor Swift is one of the biggest stars in the world and it’s no surprise Friendship Bracelets are all the rage right now – if you’re having a Taylor Swift party or watching the Eras Tour or just have an obsessed Swifty in your life (ME!) then these are the perfect easy cupcakes.

  • Use your favorite cupcake and frosting recipe
  • Use your favorite words or lyrics – with or without a Taylor influence
  • Fun for kids and adults alike!

Important Ingredients

  • Cupcakes: Use your favorite homemade or store bought cupcakes
  • Frosting: Frost your cupcakes with your favorite flavor frosting
  • Smarties candies or Mints: For the letter and/or number beads
  • Edible Food Marker: To write the letters and numbers on the candies
  • Sprinkles: To complete the bracelets decorations

How to make Friendship Bracelet Cupcakes

  1. Frost your cupcakes as desired.
  2. Use your food writing pen to write letters on each individual Smartie or Mint.
  3. Place the candies on your cupcakes and finish off the bracelets with large sprinkles or candy pearls.

Expert Tips

  • Even though the photos show mints, I recommend using Smarties unless you’re going for a mint flavored frosting (they’ll dissolve a little).
  • I recommend using larger sprinkles (like the little shapes) or pearl sprinkles instead of small ones, they’ll look more like beads.
  • Be sure to use an edible food writing marker – you can find them online at Amazon, at Walmart, or at craft stores like Michaels.

Storing Cupcakes

Store your cupcakes in an airtight container in the refrigerator. After 24 hours the smarties and/or mints will dissolve just a bit into the frosting, so it’s best to decorate these the day you serve them. I don’t recommend freezing Friendship Bracelet Cupcakes once you decorate them.

Inspired by Taylor Swift, this is an easy cupcake decoration made with sprinkles, an edible food writer, and Smarties!

Make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste these donuts! I am a huge Taylor Swift fan and You’re on Your Own Kid is my favorite song. Of course, she mentioned friendship bracelets in it and the world lost their minds – bead kits and bracelets and bracelet themed foods are everywhere. These doughnuts are the perfect semi-homemade treat for any Taylor Swift Party or because you’re watching the Eras Tour (again).

Ingredients Needed

  • Doughnuts – use your favorite store-bought kind or even Krispie Kreme or any doughnut.
  • Smarties – these candies are going to be the letter beads for our bracelets.
  • Sprinkles – some sort of shaped sprinkles or large pearl sprinkles to represent the beads.
  • Food Writer Marker – these are found on Amazon and at craft stores. They’re edible ink – do not use a regular pen.

  1. Place your doughnuts on a serving platter.
  2. Use the marker to write one letter or number on each Smartie.
  3. Place the beads on the doughnut. They won’t stick – press lightly to set into the top of the donut.

Expert Tips

  • If you want the beads to stick and not fall off, use a bit of extra frosting on the back of each. I didn’t because doughnuts definitely don’t need more frosting!
  • Have fun with these – they’re also a great party activity for kids!

If you love Midnights or Taylor Swift or the Eras Tour or you’ve just been alive the last few years, you’ll know the song Lavender Haze. It’s the first track on that album and it inspired this gorgeous citrus lavender refreshing cocktail recipe. It’s perfect for a Taylor Swift Party or just because you’re watching a grainy livestream of the Eras Tour on TikTok (I’m one of her biggest fans!)

Ingredients

  • Gin: Typically a Tom Collins is made with gin but you could also use vodka.
  • Lemon Juice: fresh squeezed is always best but bottled juice is totally fine.
  • Lavender Syrup: While you can make your own lavender simple syrup, you can also buy coffee syrup to use for this. There are a few different brands: Torani is the most widely available and makes regular and sugar-free lavender, sold online and at World Market (also check discount stores, like TJ Maxx). You can also search the liquor store – often they’ll have this flavor in the mixer aisle.
  • Club Soda: Or soda water, tonic water, or seltzer
  • Food Coloring: If your syrup is not lavender colored, you’ll want to color it so your drink is pretty. You’ll need a few drops of red and blue or a drop of purple food coloring to get the pretty purple hue.

How to make a Lavender Haze Drink

  1. You can use a cocktail shaker but I don’t – I just fill a tall glass or stemless wine glass with ice and add my ingredients. You could also use a mason jar for serving.
  2. Add gin an oz lemon juice to the glass, then add the lavender syrup and food coloring, if needed. Stir.
  3. Top off with club soda and garnish with a slice of lemon or a lemon twist.

Expert Tips

  • You could also garnish with little lavender buds, but be sure to get culinary lavender.
  • Any cocktail glass will work, but I like a traditional tall glass since it’s technically a flavored Tom Collins.
  • How to make lavender simple syrup from scratch: Add 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar to a small sauce pan over medium heat, along with 1 tablespoon culinary lavender buds. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and cool completely then store in refrigerator.
  • How to make Lavender Haze Cocktails for a party: Multiply the ingredients by the number of servings. Add the gin, lemon juice, and lavender syrup to a pitcher and chill. Add the soda just before serving.

This lavender flavored Tom Collins is a Taylor Swift inspired drink with a slight floral and very refreshing flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces gin (or vodka)
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice (or bottled)
  • ½ ounce lavender syrup
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • 4-6 ounces Club Soda
  • Lemon for garnish

Instructions

  • Add ice to a tall glass.
  • Add gin, lemon juice, lavender syrup and food coloring if using, to glass and stir.
  • Top with club soda and garnish with lemon.

Notes

  • You can use gin or vodka
  • Lavender Syrup is non-alcoholic and sold online and in some stores. Torani is the most recognizable brand. Also check the liquor store.
  • If your syrup is not purple you’ll want to add a few drops of food coloring to get the lavender hue.
  • To make a pitcher multiply the ingredients by number of servings you want. You can mix the lemon, lavender, and gin ahead of time and chill and add soda just before serving. For 8 servings you’ll need 2 cups gin, 1 cup lemon juice, 1/2 cup lavender syrup, and 4-6 cups soda.
