1. I find that I’ve resorted to looking forward to mini holidays (valentine’s day! st patricks day!) to get through our gray dreary winter. January 12 and here I am ready for spring!

2. These bean and cheese burritos look so absolutely perfect!

3. For the last two months, every night before bed, we belt out jingle bells while the kids have a dance party. We usually sing it 11 or 12 times. I’m trying to figure out how long we can keep this song going into the new year!

4. Things to stop (and start!) doing in 2021.

5. TV things! I watched This Is Us last week and maybe I’m just desperate for some good TV, but I thought it was pretty good – just wish it would move quicker! I’m also kind of watching The Bachelor (background watching, haha) since it was filmed locally.

6. Speaking of, thoughts on the SATC reboot? I mean, I am the biggest SATC fan of life, I could watch it all day and night. But I just have a hard time believing it will be good! I got everything I needed with the movies so… thoughts?

7. This new year is a beautiful fresh start.

8. Late at night I look at dreamy, wild real estate for places I’d love to live. Where is your go-to spot?

9. This weekend I read the wife upstairs in about a day – it was so good and I was hooked! What are you reading?

1. The hacks to make 2021 the best year yet. These are so good! 2. Citrus season is the best season. Been craving grapefruit like crazy. 3. Dying over this snickerdoodle cake! 4. Remember years ago when I forced myself into loving coffee? Well, I’m kind of trying to do the same thing with tea! […]

2. Citrus season is the best season. Been craving grapefruit like crazy.

3. Dying over this snickerdoodle cake!

4. Remember years ago when I forced myself into loving coffee? Well, I’m kind of trying to do the same thing with tea! I’ve notoriously thought that tea tastes like dirty water, but I think I’m making it happen. This is very intersting.

5. 5 changes to make this year happier than last. May not take much with last year being 2020, but still…

6. Where is the first place you’ll travel to when it’s safe to do so?!

7. TV things! I finished Bridgeton and mostly liked it, though I thought parts were ridiculous at times. I’m basically just rewatching Schitt’s Creek at night or reading because there.is.nothing.on.

8. On working less – this is so interesting!

9. Christmas decor is still up in this house! Can’t say no to the lights. Verrrry excited to do a little valentine’s decorating though.

1. The above is a great depiction of our meals over the last give days. 2. And our living room is still a toy explosion. I can’t get it under control! If I go missing, you can find my buried under the toys. 3. Are you a tree-down before or after new year’s person? For […]

2. And our living room is still a toy explosion. I can’t get it under control! If I go missing, you can find my buried under the toys.

3. Are you a tree-down before or after new year’s person? For me, it’s always done AFTER! At least a week or two. Growing up, this week between the holidays was the epitome of christmas for us – not before! I also love the twinkle lights too much to take them down already.

4. This flourless red velvet cake looks insane!

5. Every since switching to an academic year planner last year, I still get the new planner itch in December/January. I still use the passion planner (and adore it) but am curious which one you’re using for 2021!

6. Now that I spilled the baby news, I can tell you that I haven’t had caffeine in a few weeks and oh man, how I miss it. I only drink 1 cup a day and did so while pregnant with the others, but a few weeks ago I just couldn’t get ahold of my anxiety and it was the only thing I really had to cut out. I’m hoping to add it back in soon but man do I just miss the ritual!

7. TV things! I started Bridgerton last night and it’s so good. I didn’t think I’d like it because movies/shows/period dramas like that are just not my thing. But wow I loved it! Have you watched?!

8. What resolutions look like in 2021. Man, I want to make some but I also don’t know if I should! The overarching feeling I had in 2020 was that I just wasn’t accomplishing anything, you know?!

9. I couldn’t be more excited that I not only hit my reading goal for 2020, but that I also actually recorded it all and shared what I read every month! I JUST hit the goal so I don’t think I can add many more to my goal for 2021. I read 75 books this year – but maybe I can up it to 80 books.

2. There’s a meme about Home Alone going around and how unrealistic it is – I couldn’t agree more. How do THAT many people sleep in on the day of a trip?! I mean, we can’t sleep past six in this house.

3. How to have a festive pandemic holiday!

4. Did you see the “christmas star” last night when the planets aligned?! Max was SO excited about it because they talked a lot about it in school. Unfortunately, it was super rainy and cloudy here so we couldn’t see!

5. TV things!! I loathed the Grey’s finale! Also didn’t love a Million Little Things. I watched a California Christmas on netflix, it was okay! I need some Christmas movie binging in my life tonight.

6. 8 practices to get calm and still. Love this.

7. As if 2020 couldn’t get any worse, the pantone colors of the year for 2021 are gray and yellow. What? No thanks! (If you can’t tell, I will never get over the fabulous radiant orchid. Ha!)

8. WAIT! It does get worse. Nancy Meyers may never make another movie again! Noooo.

1. I actually love wrapping gifts, but this year I am majorly lacking in motivation. Since we don’t have anywhere to go or any events, gatherings, etc that will take time away from home, I am in no rush to wrap. It’s killing me! Gotta get started. 2. Please tell me you’ve watched 2020: The […]

2. Please tell me you’ve watched 2020: The Musical! I’ve watched it about ten times.

3. Considering cutting down my baking list now – but I’m stumped on what to make. What is your number one must have? For me, it’s always peanut butter blossoms.

4. If you don’t feel like yourself, you’re not alone.

5. TV things!! I need something new to binge. Last year at this time is when I started binging The Americans! It was so good. I’m still MEH on A Million Little Things. I need something less intense than Grey’s.

6. I’m sure we’ve talked about this before, but what was the first CD you ever owned? Mine was Jagged Little Pill by Alanis and one of Sheryl Crow’s (got both for my birthday) and I think I was 11… and now I’m thinking WHAT!

7. A guide to managing time when you’re always behind.

8. Have you started thinking about 2021 goals yet? I know that might be laughable at this point but… ha.

1. This weekend I did a huge closet declutter! The kids stuff, my stuff – it feels so good. I often do it in the spring but held back because most donation places were closed with the pandemic. Now that most donations are open, I’ve been in full declutter mode. 2. Oh my word. Brownie […]

1. This weekend I did a huge closet declutter! The kids stuff, my stuff – it feels so good. I often do it in the spring but held back because most donation places were closed with the pandemic. Now that most donations are open, I’ve been in full declutter mode.

2. Oh my word. Brownie shortbread! What!

3. My saving grave since I’ve had kids and otherwise lost my memory and brain, is to keep notes on everyday holiday (or vacation, etc). This is HUGE and so, so helpful! I keep mine in a google doc. I note things we did this year, when certain tickets go on sale, what to register for if needed, things that didn’t work, our holiday meal (like I have separate Thanksgiving notes docs too) and all that. I’ve done it for years! I cannot recommend it enough.

4. 7 things to do if you’re feeling sad about this weird holiday season.

5. I had never seen these gorgeous advent calendars until Rachel started sharing hers on IG. I’m going to get one for our family next year!

6. TV things!! Um, guys, I rewatched Virgin River again because it just makes me so happy and is the escape I need! The Grey’s surprised was cool but man.. I’m having a hard time reliving that all. And I’m also having a hard time getting into a Million Little Things, which has been my absolute fave for the last two years! What is up with that?!

7. Speaking of, I know I had asked about new christmas traditions a few weeks ago, but I’m specifically trying to find a good one for christmas eve this year! At first I thought I was just going to cook our regular meal for us (christmas eve is huuuuge with our family), but then the more I thought about it, I’m like, that’s ridiculous. I want it to be effortless and fun and still delicious!

8. Create a more spacious life. I LOVE this.

9. Emilia sings herself to sleep everyday and these days, she belts out jingle bell rock. It’s literally the highlight of our night hearing her on the monitor!

2. Did you get any black friday, small business sat or cyber monday sales? I just couldn’t handle searching through it all – it was so overwhelming! I finished some holiday shopping but nothing too impressive. I did get a few things on saturday from some of my faves.

3. Majorly craving this sweet potato bisque with crispy white beans!

4. Today our elf on the shelf returned! Remember when I used to talk about wanting to do the elf long before I had kids? Ha! You can find my entire life contents here on this blog, FYI. ANYWAY – we don’t use the elf as a behavior thing, but just a fun christmas thing. Eddie is the one who does the elf every night and he loves it!

5. 4 reasons to stop being a perfectionist! Truth.

6. TV things! I have never been so excited to have Virgin River back on. OMG. I binged it in one sitting (stayed up way too late) and then started to watch it again. I just love it so much. And it was nice to watch a show that seemed more like regular old life.

7. I am so tempted to get a nespresso with the milk frother attached. Not the separate one that you can get with it – the one that fits in the machine. This seems like heaven on earth!

8. There are so many traditions this season that I’m sad we will be missing, but I also think it’s a good time to start new traditions at home. Is there anything special you’re doing for this holiday season to try and keep it magical?!

2. OMG I am dying over this skillet creamed corn.

3. Guys! I am honestly so envious of people who seem to be living their lives without a care in the world and traveling like it’s nothing! We still aren’t going anywhere or doing much of anything, but we also don’t have to travel to see our immediate family. How are you guys feeling about things?

4. On that same note, over the weekend I looked at my christmas break post from last year and it was so sad and depressing, since this year won’t be anything like that! I’ve never been so happy that we live minutes away from immediate family, but this list on how to get through the holiday loneliness when you can’t see your family is helpful.

5. The benefits of writing by hand! Oh how I love this. I love writing by hand!

6. TV things!! Okay, so I have never been able to get into The Crown. It is just too slow and boring for me (sorry!!). But now, of course I am DYING to watch this season given what it’s about. Do we think I can just watch this season alone?! And not have to watch the seasons before? Please advise.

7. Officially got most of our Christmas decor up and it feels amazing! Usually I spend the entire weekend after Thanksgiving decorating, but now I feel like I can enjoy it more? Best decision ever.

8. Eddie got new tires on his car this weekend and for the last few days, we thought something died in the garage. The smell is unreal! We have never had that happen before. It’s like burning rubber without the burning.

9. Why we never have enough time and what to do about it!

1. I am absolutely dying over this peanut butter chocolate pecan pie. 2. All Max wants for Christmas is the tape recorder from Home Alone 2! Haha. He doesn’t really understand that they don’t make it anymore (I saw one on ebay for like $900 or something insane) and thinks he is getting one. Oh […]

2. All Max wants for Christmas is the tape recorder from Home Alone 2! Haha. He doesn’t really understand that they don’t make it anymore (I saw one on ebay for like $900 or something insane) and thinks he is getting one. Oh boy.

3. 10 simple things to try if you’re stressed.

4. Had my first eggnog latte of the year and it was just perfect. Really wishing they’d do an eggnog cream cold brew!

5. TV Things! Okay we have to discuss Grey’s. Jo and Jackson are the romance I didn’t know that I needed. I liked the special ending too, but also hate it because it’s not “real?” You know? Either way, it was fun. And shocking. Also don’t feel like I can watch the show because it’s just reliving 2020 again and again and again. Also going to start The Queen’s Gambit and The Undoing.

6. How to move into action. OMG I LOVE this. It can be applied to so many things!

7. Someone please tell me why my kids only want to watch Halloween movies. I (not-so-secretly) hate Halloween (the kids don’t know this, of course) and continuing to watch Halloween movies mid-November is as bad as it gets. Hello! It’s holiday movie watching season! Right now!

8. Why oh why do I want these light blue ugg clogs? I haven’t gone anywhere since March and they are kind of ugly but maybe they make me feel like it’s 2002 again or something.

2. This pomegranate meringue pie is stunning.

3. I found it insanely hard to concentrate on a book last week! What are you reading right now? I started the twelve dates of christmas. I have to finished 10 books by the end of the year to hit my reading goal!

4. My brother and SIL got Emilia a giant stuffed dog that is on all fours for her birthday. She LOVES dogs. Anyway – about 50 times a day now I jump out of my skin because I think it’s real. Eddie does too! It’s pretty funny.

5. Oh yes! How to stay engaged with work when you feel like checking out.

6. TV Things!! Well let’s just say that I’ve spiraled into Netflix Christmas because I’ve now also watched Midnight at the Magnolia. It was very cute and Hallmarky. I also can’t wait until Happiest Season comes out on Hulu! It looks so good.

7. Last week I had my annual physical and told my doctor about some anxiety I’d been experiencing. She suggested meditation (multiple times in the convo, actually!) and while I’ve tried it before, I think I’m more committed to it now. I love this: the importance of meditation in crazy times.

8. I’ve been using an academic year planner for the last two years but am considering switching in January for a legit fresh start… ha. I mean, is it even worth it to try and use a planner in January… Ha!
