Just another week over here!

Ohhhh my gosh, I feel like our weeks are so unbelievably boring right now! I’ve never been a fan of the first three months of the year, but whoa, it is like groundhog day over here. Not complaining because we are all healthy and well. Just not doing much at all, obviously. Many boring, regular old life pics to come in this post.

See also: I am SO obsessed with grapefruit right now. Eating one every day.

Started a new big coloring page this week!

His rainbow fish is my fave.

Emilia LOVES doing these little collages. They are so fun. She did a few of these while I watched the inauguration and they are her favorite thing.

Another snack I love. Yogurt with maple granola.

Balsamic veggies for topping chicken.

Breakfast babes.

Trying to nap with this wild one.

Made a mushroom and roasted broccoli carbonara for dinner one night! Broccoli was still in the oven and let’s just say there was no room for it in the pan. Ha.

Favorite scene.

Finishing the weekend off strong! How was your week?!

Who else is secretly excited that January is half over?!

This past week I finally felt like I was back in the groove, you know? Only took half the month!

Finally took down the christmas stuff last week! Man, it was hard! I was so sad once it was all down. I think it’s because I’m basically afraid to live through 2021 to get to christmas again. Ha!

Mornings! Winter skies are so pretty.

Some roasted veg with balsamic vinegar going into orzo.

Can’t handle her!

The driveway totally looked like leopard print one morning. Also this time of year I live in my black uggs.

This could be a problem!!

My house salad with crispy chicken fingers for dinner one night.

Little love bug! Why is he so big.

A gigantic pretzel starter seemed reasonable with our takeout one night.

Also been roasted some garlic balsamic mushrooms as a side! They are so good.

Annnd I made chrissy teigen’s drunken noodles one night. We love this meal but it is a bit time consuming.

Finally we did a bit of valentine’s day decorating. FUN FUN FUN!

First recipe fail of the year! Attempting to make heart hot chocolate bombs. HAHAHAHA. They looked like trash. Tasted good though.

My little fruit loving girl!

Some roasted veg for dinner.

The kids had their well checks! I live for Emilia’s outfit.

And on that same note Max got to celebrate his birthday in school! They were closed on his actual birthday.

Fresh sourdough! I didn’t bake it, but my starter is still going strong.

Donuts for the weekend.

Starting a batch of egg salad for the week. My fave.

And finished with pizzas and salads! This greek salad doesn’t look like much but it may have been the best I’ve ever had. Have a great week!

Annnd we’re back at the start of a new year!

I am so excited to share this weekly post again! Never would I have ever expected what was to come of 2020. Now I looked back on those first three months of the year when life was “normal” and it’s crazy to see. I always love seeing what we did throughout the year, and seeing how much the kids grew (sob!). Hoping to keep it up again all this year!

Max got a spirograph for Christmas! It’s definitely a learning curve for him but he loves it.

He was obsessed with making muffins this week. He chose pumpkin! Oh my gosh, these might be the best pumpkin muffins I have EVER! made. Want to share the recipe but pumpkin season is basically over. Do I want until next year?!

I mean we had to add chocolate chips…

Had a few warmer days so had to break out the new chalk from santa.

I mean how fun is pizza chalk?!

Took a quick run to target and was happy to see some Valentine’s Day stuff out!

Lacy brought the kids treats when we exchanged gifts with baby Cooper!

We sat in front of grandma’s tree for a bit.

On NYE I made this insane hot lobster dip. Dying to share this recipe too!!

Also made some sheet pan nachos, which has kind of become our NYE go-to.

And pork on New Year’s Day. Bring us all the good luck possible!

Pretty amazing when your older brother helps you build your Frozen legos!

Lots of fun playing with Christmas gifts all week.

And hot chocolate breaks!

We got the best pizza this weekend to finish things off.

I’m super sad the holidays are over but also ready to get into the swing of things. Why does it always go so fast?! Even still, I’m happy to get a move on this week and get back into our routine!

Well, let’s get some exciting news out of the way first. On Christmas I shared that baby #3 is on the way!

I’m shocked that some of you haven’t called me out on it earlier based on these weekly posts – I haven’t shown our dinners in forever! Ha! Basically because I can’t even fathom stomaching dinner let alone take a pic of it. LOL. More to come, I’ll do a baby #3 crumbs post later this week!

Our elf was over the top this week. It was seriously fun! We had a great week but come Dec 26, it was sad to have no more elf and no more advent calendars.

I have a matching PJ obsession for the kids. I buy most of our PJs at christmastime and they LOVE to match! We have gingerbread avengers…

Colorful lights (there were Emilia’s fave!).

Christmas village.

And old fashioned santa for christmas morning.

We baked up all of our cookies!

I LOVE that both my kids love to bake.

Let them decorate every.single.one.

We finished this big art posted that Max got for his birthday from his cousins.

And we hung it up in the toy room! haha. It’s so fun.

We made peppermint playdough too!

And pomanders. So many crafts this week.

On christmas eve, we prepped our breakfast for the next day.

On christmas eve, I made filets, caesar salad, almond green beans and my mom made twice baked potatoes. It was so good.

Oh I made a huge cheeseboard too because this may have been the only time in 2020 that I made one?!

Got all dressed up to stay home!

Honestly, this was the best night ever. On christmas day, I was so weepy and sad because Max’s excitement was unlike anything I’ve EVER seen. It took him over an hour to fall asleep because he was so excited. He woke me up at 1, 2, 3 and 4 wanting to go see if santa came! While I know (hope) he will still believe next year, I feel like the excitement will never be on this level again. It won’t be as innocent. I was just so sad that it was over on christmas day!

My best babies!!

Love them so much.

Then, santa came!

The kids had a blast.

MY HEART.

Our brunch was amazing!

This overnight breakfast bake was INCREDIBLE. Eddie and I could not stop eating it. It’s very rich but I think I will make it every Christmas morning from now on. Our once a year tradition.

Remember last week when I shared out menu? Well this breakfast was so huge and we ate it so late that we didn’t really eat the rest of the day. We snacked on fruit and cookies! And never got out of pajamas. It was wonderful.

So many christmas outfits and no place to wear them. whomp whomp.

Why does she look 17!

My mom got the kids this melissa and doug s’mores set – omg it’s been such a hit!

Max got a steelers jersey that he was VERY pumped about. See also: our floor has looked like this for three days. I CAN’T GET IT CLEAN!

We finally cooked the lasagna I had made last week that was intended for christmas day. Had it with a house salad and it was FANTASTIC.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Keeping up my tree for at least another week (or two!).

Our elf is doing some super crazy things this year!

Living for this breakfast combo! It’s the american spoon maple granola, plain yogurt, banana, honey and cinnamon. So good.

Then the snow came!!

I love when it sits on the tree branches like this.

The kids had SO much fun. We spent multiple hours outside every day!

The slide is much more tempting in the snow.

We made snow day pizza to celebrate.

This one had roasted red peppers, bacon, goat cheese and corn. Kind of a clean-out-the-fridge deal. Amazing.

The next day, we were out too!

They couldn’t get enough.

I wish these snowy scenes would last for the next two weeks.

I started baking and made a batch of my chocolate sprinkle crinkles from the pretty dish.

We ordered out a bit this week to support our local restaurants which are all closed. These tacos were perfection.

Made some PB blossoms!

My absolute fave.

Princess Elsa decorated her tree.

She lives in this costume. It’s her favorite thing!

I’m still enjoying daily harvest smoothies! This was blueberry kale.

Winter skies are the prettiest, aren’t they?!

Saturday afternoon, Eddie and the kids built this huge snowman. Max was so excited.

Our room is festively decked out!

And copious amounts of hot chocolate were consumed (melted marshmallows here!) after all that time in the snow. Can’t believe it’s Christmas week!

Only two weeks left in the year!!

What a crazy thought. This was a super special week because it was Max’s birthday weekend!

Please tell me how on earth this baby boy is six?!

Also, speaking of only two weeks being left in the year… HOW? I mean, I get it, as it’s been the slowest and fastest year of life. The last week I’ve been reassessing some goals I made for 2020, so many of which are laughable at this point. But, some still held throughout the year, so I’m trying to figure out what went well and what didn’t. With a bit of grace in there too, since it was 2020.

These are just a fraction of my mom’s christmas ornaments. So many old, wonderful ones.

Waiting for her brother to get a haircut! Now he really looks like he is 14.

And Max had to make an angel for school, so naturally Emilia wanted to make one too. Cutest ever.

We blew up tons of balloons for Max’s birthday!

My SIL sent him this amazing christmas coloring banner. He is obsessed!

We had such a weird busy week that I photographed NONE of our dinners!! What!! I did photograph this mango papaya daily harvest smoothie. It was good! Would also be delicious with some coconut rum.

Birthday boy!

The elf left Max a message the morning of his birthday.

And I felt so bad that we couldn’t have a party for him, so we ended up getting the big yard signs too. He LOVED them and was so excited!

Friday ended up being such a nice day! It was 60 degrees out and sunny. We ended up having a drive by birthday for him.

When I ordered his cake a few months ago, he wavered between a Jurassic Park cake (?!), avengers cake and ghostbusters cake. Ha!

His jurassic park cake won and he picked one off of pinterest that he liked. So funny.

The inside was funfetti with white chocolate!

And we had ordered avengers cookies too, which ended up being perfect to hand out for the drive by party!

But why does he look so old here?!

I can’t handle the cuteness.

It was such a nice little weekend! Especially when you can blow on your cake because no one can come to the party. Ha! Who knew blowing out candles could be a thing of the past?!

49 weeks into 2020! How crazy.

This first week of December was a good one! We got our first snow! We made gingerbread houses! The elf returned! We celebrated St Nick’s Day!

The night before it snowed, Max wanted to color snowflakes. I can’t even express how much this boy loves art. There are literally pictures hanging all over our house because he either draws something or prints it out and colors it then hangs it on the wall. Any wall! Ha.

Overnight, the snow came!

I absolutely LOVE snow in December.

The Irish Cream Cold Brew came back to Starbucks and I couldn’t remember if I liked it last year, so I got it again. Eh, it’s okay! I didn’t think it had a ton of flavor.

My extent for snow art.

Her little face.

She is so funny in the snow.

Max obviously adores it.

Sad mini snowman, haha.

Made a how sweet house salad, OF COURSE.

And crispy smashed potatoes too.

Sparkle snow is my fave. This was the next morning!

Our elf returned and Eddie 100% manages it. He is super creative and has the best ideas – also spends hours at night setting it up!

The kids go crazy for it.

For our advent calendars this year we got these ones that have a book everyday. The kids also love these!

Friday night we had a movie night on a floor.

Saturday night we made mini gingerbread houses. The kids did them all by themselves.

St Nicholas came and left some gold coins in their shoes!

Cuuuute.

Now to try and not eat chocolate for breakfast… !

I can’t believe Thanksgiving week is over.

It’s hard to believe! Again, this year is going so slowly but also flying by like crazy. Here’s how our week went!

I made some chex mix in the slow cooker which was a total bust! Much prefer the oven baking method.

Made a few pumpkin dream cakes too! This way everyone could still have pumpkin dream cake since they couldn’t come for thanksgiving.

Annnnd prepped chocolate chip cookies to give away too.

Trying to assemble somewhat of a fancy centerpiece for us! Our usual gathering isn’t HUGE (maybe like 15 people?) but we cut it down to just 4 with the kids.

The kids got to meet their new cousin!! I promise Max was very excited, despite his face. Ha.

I did my usual butter wine roasted turkey!

And we always smoke a second turkey too. Since I had ordered both turkeys in october, before we knew we couldn’t have our usual gathering, we still smoked it so we could give it away. The smoked is SO GOOD. We made full Thanksgiving dinners for a few people that would have usually come!

The fun kids table.

Top knots for life!

This is a plate of leftovers and it looks very 1993, doesn’t it.

This was the only pic we got of ourselves at the end of the night. This sums up our days pretty well.

These two just sit in front of the tree and stare at it. I love it.

Emilia gets my phone constantly. I always find special things on there.

Donuts for the weekend! I want a salad.

We went to the drive thru Christmas lights at the zoo. It was fun and the kids loved it.

Played outside too, because it was pretty warm! Woohoo. P.S. can you find Emilia here?

And my little artist drew his own christmas lights and santa hat. I just love him!

Hello hello! Another week down.

My rainbow girl!

Kicked off the week with an eggnog latte.

We’ve also been doing an occasional treat of hot chocolate! They love it.

Started to decorate my mantel!

We had dentist appointments this week.

Max was the best.

Emilia is all of us at the dentist.

Everyday Max builds something new and asks me to “take a picture.”

Grilled some chicken one night for dinner.

Oh and Emilia did this nice art project.

This is a terrible photo but it’s chilaquiles with leftover take out chips! Before cilantro.

Started to decorate the tree too.

The kids loved it.

I’m trying to make our tree like my mom does hers. Reference this post for pics of it!

I made this amazing bolognese lasagna for dinner that was sent to us for Gaby’s virtual Thanksgiving.

And we had her brownies too. OH MY.

They were Max approved!
