Are you craving crispy air fryer fries that are easy to make and healthier than traditional deep-fried ones? This homemade Air Fryer French Fries recipe is super simple, and the fries turn out just as crispy and delicious as any fast food fries – without the guilt!

Why I Love French Fries in the Air Fryer

For years I’ve made oven baked fries, but using an air fryer to make fries is a game-changer. Here are a few reasons why you should try this healthy air fryer fries method:

  • Less oil: Unlike deep frying, air frying requires minimal oil, making it a healthier option.
  • Quick and easy: With a cook time of just 18-20 minutes, you can have quick air fryer fries ready in no time.
  • Consistent results: The air fryer circulates hot air around the food, ensuring your fries are evenly cooked and perfectly crispy every time.
  • Classic Side Dish: Air fried fries are the ultimate side dish that pairs perfectly with everything from Easy Cheeseburger Sliders and Turkey Burgers to other mains like Pan Seared Beef Tenderloin and Southern Style Pork Tenderloin.

The Ingredients

  • Russet Potato: The best potatoes for fries are russet potatoes (aka Idaho potatoes) because they’re starchier and get super crispy. However, you could also use Yukon Gold potatoes, which will give you a still crispy exterior but a creamier inside.
  • Oil: Any oil you prefer works! Olive oil or avocado oil are our go-to’s. This ingredient is crucial for achieving that delicious, crispy air fryer fries texture.
  • Salt: Of course no fry is complete without salt, but feel free to add any seasonings you love to make these fries your own.

How to Make Air Fryer French Fries

Potatoes cut into fries on wooden cutting board.

Step 1: Scrub the potatoes and peel if desired (I leave the skins on!). Cut potatoes into even sticks about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 2: Place the fries in a bowl and drizzle with your chosen oil and the kosher salt. Toss them well to ensure each fry is coated. Alternatively, this step can be done directly in the air fryer basket using spray oil.

Step 3: Place the seasoned fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 18-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.

Step 4: Serve fries with favorite dipping sauce like ketchup, homemade ranch or BBQ sauce.

Tips and Tricks

  • Don’t overcrowd the basket: For the best air fryer fries, make sure to cook them with very little overlap (in a single layer preferably). If you have a lot of fries, cook them in batches. When you’ve finished all the batches, toss them all in together for 1-2 minutes (don’t worry about a single layer this time!) to warm/crisp them up.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste: Feel free to experiment with different seasonings. A sprinkle of garlic powder or paprika can elevate your homemade air fryer fries to a new level. You could even top with some parmesan cheese and parsley! YUM!
  • Each Air Fryer is Different: Keep in mind the cook time for crispy fries can vary depending on the size and model of your air fryer. Start checking them around the 12-15 minute mark until they’re cooked to your desired doneness. P.S. this is the air fryer I use!
  • Uniform Slices: For evenly cooked fries, make sure you cut your potatoes into uniform pieces. This ensures every fry gets perfectly crisp!

FAQs

How do I store and reheat leftover air fryer fries?

To store leftover air fryer fries, let them cool completely and then place them in an airtight container. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the fries back in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes or until they are heated through and crispy again.

These Salmon Tacos are a weeknight staple.

I love meals, like these salmon tacos, that appear impressive ,but are one of the quickest meals out there. The salmon is broiled for less than 10-minutes, and the cilantro lime sauce is so easy. I strongly suggest taking an extra 10 minutes to make your own corn tortillas while the salmon is cooking; it truly makes such a big difference! If you want over-the-top goodness, whip up so quick pickled red onions for topping. Include those details and these are one of my favorite tacos of all time (along with my favorite chicken street tacos, of course).

How to make Salmon Tacos:

Cook Salmon: Pat salmon dry with a paper towel and place on a foil lined baking sheet. Rub oil all over top of salmon flesh. In a small bowl, combine spices and lime zest. Rub mixture onto flesh of salmon. Broil on upper middle rack for 8 to 10 minutes (140 degrees on a thermometer) or until salmon flakes with a fork. Remove from oven and tent with foil to rest.

Make Cilantro Lime Sauce: Add all ingredients to a food processor and blend cilantro lime sauce until smooth.

Assemble Tacos: Warm corn tortillas on a hot, dry skillet, flipping once. Break salmon into pieces then place a spoonful of salmon on a tortilla. Top with cabbage, pickled onions, sauce, and cilantro. Spritz with fresh lime juice and add hot sauce if desired.

A plate of air fryer garlic steak bites and potatoes.

What is Air Fried Garlic Steak Bites and Potatoes?

Our air fryer garlic steak bites and potatoes recipe is a delectable spin on the classic steak and potatoes combo, all made so super easy thanks to the magic of an air fryer! Juicy, tender chunks of boneless ribeye steak are perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection alongside golden Yukon potatoes that crisp to absolute perfection.

What we love about this dish is that the air fryer does all the heavy lifting, ensuring your bites of beefy goodness and scrumptious potatoes both come out crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, without all the fuss of traditional cooking methods. It’s a quick, easy, and utterly satisfying meal that’s perfect for any night of the week.

Ingredients You Need

  • Boneless ribeye steaks, cut into bite-sized pieces – These juicy little nuggets of ribeye are the star of the show, giving you that melt-in-your-mouth goodness with every bite.
  • Gold Yukon potatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces – Yukon potatoes bring a creamy texture and their golden perfection pairs perfectly with the steak.
  • Olive oil – A splash of olive oil keeps everything crisp and prevents those tasty bites from sticking to your air fryer.
  • Kosher salt – Kosher salt enhances all the flavors, making sure your steak bites and potatoes are anything but bland.
  • Fresh cracked black pepper – Freshly cracked black pepper adds a touch of heat and a whole lot of gentle, spicy goodness to each bite.
  • Smoked paprika – Smoked paprika gives a smoky, slightly spicy kick.
  • Salted butter – Rich, salted butter melts over the steak and potatoes, creating a luscious, mouthwatering finish.
  • Garlic, minced – Garlic infuses the dish with its aromatic magic!
  • Fresh chopped parsley – A sprinkle of fresh parsley adds a pop of color and a hint of freshness that takes this dish over the top.

How to Make Air Fryer Garlic Steak Bites and Potatoes

  1. Prep the Beef and Potatoes. Add the steak, potatoes, oil, salt, pepper, and paprika to a large bowl and combine until the beef and potatoes are coated.
  2. Cook the Beef and Potatoes. Place all the steak and potatoes in the air fryer basket and cook until heated, tossing halfway through the cooking process.
  3. Make the Sauce. Add butter to a preheated pan and melt it before adding the garlic to saute. Then sprinkle in the parsley.
  4. Combine. When the steak and potatoes are finished cooking, transfer them to the pan of garlic butter sauce and heat briefly while ensuring the beef and potatoes are coated.
  5. Serve. Serve this dish immediately on its own or with a side of veggies or over pasta.

Variations

  • Swap ribeye for sirloin – If you’re feeling fancy, try using sirloin for a leaner but still flavorful twist on the classic.
  • Sweet potatoes instead of Yukon potatoes – For a touch of sweetness and extra nutrients, sweet potatoes are a fabulous alternative.
  • Add some veggies – Throw in some bell peppers or zucchini for a pop of color and extra crunch.
  • Spice it up with chili powder – Want more heat? A dash of chili powder will give your dish a fiery kick.
  • Use rosemary instead of parsley – Fresh rosemary brings a fragrant, earthy note that’s simply divine.
  • Lemon zest – A sprinkle of lemon zest brightens up the dish with a zesty freshness.
  • Truffle oil finish – Drizzle a bit of truffle oil at the end for an indulgent, upscale touch.
  • Parmesan cheese – A dusting of grated parmesan adds a savory, cheesy layer that’s absolutely irresistible.
  • Balsamic glaze drizzle – For a sweet and tangy twist, finish with a drizzle of tangy, sweet balsamic glaze.

Can I Store Leftovers?

You can absolutely store leftovers of this simple recipe! It’s a great way to prep meals for the week — store it in individual servings or all together and reheat in the oven or air fryer for the crispiest results. You can also microwave, but if it won’t retain that crispy texture.

Refrigerate the steak and potatoes for up to 3 days in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag.

For longer storage, keep the steak and potatoes in the freezer for up to 3 months in a freezer-safe container or a freezer bag.
